Maribor, Slovenia, September 29, 2015. EuroVolley 2015 participants Croatia and Czech Republic played three test matches against each other on neutral ground – in Maribor, Slovenia, as part of their preparation for the upcoming Final Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men.
The Croats managed to dominate the first game and won it by 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 26-24), showing excellent form. Two additional sets were played, which the visiting team won. On the following day the Czechs took their revenge and shut out the opponent by 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22), but then Croatia outplayed them in the two additional sets. The two teams played a total of four sets on the third day, the last one pre-set in the format of a tie-breaker. The Czech Republic won by 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 15-13) with 26 points from Michal Finger.
"These test matches met our expectations. We played good volleyball and we succeeded twice and lost once,” commented Czech Republic’s coach Zdenek Smejkal. “It did not work for us only in the first match, which was the result of our longer travel. It is also good that all players got the opportunity on court, including both our setters."
Meanwhile, in Maaseik, Belgium lost to Finland by 2-3 (25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 17-25, 7-15) in the last game of another pre-EuroVolley friendly series.
