Historically, Bulgaria has a strong track record in all international competitions. It competed in the first Olympic tournament at Tokyo 1964, finishing 5th. It took the silver medal at Moscow 1980. Bulgaria finished 4th at the last Olympics in London. From World Championships it has 1 silver and 4 bronze medals, in addition to 1 bronze from the 2007 World Cup. The team’s most recent success was the silver medal from the inaugural European Games Baku 2015. As a co-host of EuroVolley 2015, Bulgaria will try to build upon the one silver and four bronze medals it has on its European Championship tally after finishing 4th in 2013. This is the third time it organizes the men’s continental finals after 1950 and 1981. It is now ranked #7 in the world and #4 in Europe.
