The Croatian team is a blend of experienced players and young players who have yet to achieve their greatest successes. Among the most experienced belongs captain Igor Omrcen. Younger players took advantage of this year's CEV Volleyball European League to gain enough experience before the most important competition of the Old continent. The whole national team adorns the team spirit and mutual humor with a lot of kidding, but also a sense of patriotism, which is peculiar to each Croatian team. They say that the team is as strong as its weakest player. In its history, Croatia has two silver medals from the European League. Its best European Championship ranking is an 8th place from 2005. It is now ranked #58 in the world and #22 in Europe.
