Last summer Serbia finished ninth at the World Championship, but before and after that, it consistently won medals at other international events, including silver in the 2015 World League. Its crowning glory came competing as Yugoslavia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Having won bronze four years earlier in Atlanta, their campaign in Australia took them to Olympic gold. In addition, its overall record, including honors achieved as Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro, the Serbian national team has 1998 silver and 2010 bronze from World Championships, one bronze each from the World Cup and the World Grand Champions Cup, as well as five silver and three bronze medals from the World League. The Balkan team has 10 medals from European Championships including two titles – from 2001 and 2011 with the latest bronze coming from the last edition in 2013. It is now ranked #9 in the world and #2 in Europe.
